Welcome To The New NASCAR Season

Jeff Gordon saying good bye this season?

A lot of us are beginning to get excited this week. Yep, it's that time of the year. NASCAR is getting cranked up again this next weekend with the running of the 2015 Sprint Unlimited. It's a given that some of you don't necessarily like that type of racing. However, judging by the response we get to NASCAR news, it is oh so obvious that most of you do.

Everyone has their favorites and all of the drivers are on equal footing as far as the standings go this time of year. Optimism and hope, all the race teams and fans are full of it.

All the teams are pretty much set and all gussied up. Nascar.com has posted various photos of how those teams will look this year and there are quite a few changes. Heck, there always are. It usually takes me at least halfway through the Daytona 500 before I can figure out who is who. The Motor Racing Network has the schedule for the Budweiser Speed Weeks at Daytona and you can click here to view it.

By now, everyone knows about Jeff Gordon's plans to make this his last full-time season in NASCAR. This is all the more reason to makes sure you get to one of the races especially if you are a Gordon fan. Remember, it quite probably could be his last run in the Daytona 500. And coming the week after that, he could be running his last race in Atlanta. In fact Atlanta Motor Speedway is going to honor Jeff with a race weekend tribute. That may be the best time for most of us in the Deep Dixie Racing coverage area to see him. Don't you want to be able to say you were there?

Speaking of Atlanta Motor Speedway, you may want to make sure that you are there for the doubleheader on Saturday February 28, the day before the Sprint Cup race. The NASCAR Xfinity Series and the Camping World Truck Series races will both be run then. Talking about more bang for your buck. Two races in one day. This sounds like an awesome weekend for true NASCAR fans. You may want to go ahead and get your tickets for all three races.
