At their last race, Needmore Speedway announced that they were going to add an additional class of cars to their lineup. These cars were described as old school late models. A preliminary rule sheet for these cars was made available for those who are interested. Today, Dan Broome took the time to sit down with Carolyn Johnson and myself to tell us a little more about this new class of stock cars. He also told us that Needmore Speedway would be opening up their Superstreet Class to allow the Outlaw Superstreet cars to compete against them. Take a look at the video to learn more.

By now, most of you know that Keith Stith and his wife, Jennifer, were involved in an auto accident yesterday morning. I spoke with their son, Stuart, this afternoon and he let me know a little more about his parents' injuries. Let's be clear, both of his parents have sustained injuries which are severe in nature. His dad is in the ICU unit in critical condition after being transported to Macon while his mom is in the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.

For the last six months, Carolyn Johnson, Leo Johnson, and myself have been thoroughly enjoying getting Deep Dixie Racing off the ground. It has been an endeavor of love because all three of us love racing and we want to see it's popularity grow. The advent of the internet and all the new technology that has come along with it has allowed us to provide content in ways that were unimaginable just a few short years ago. Trust me, we are still exploring new ways to provide content in a timely manner and we would like to enlist your help in doing so. We understand that many of you who come to our website love racing too and most of you guys share the same goals that we do.

I got to meet Atlanta Motor Speedway president, Ed Clark, at a Thursday Night Thunder show a few weeks back and he was the most down to Earth and laid back person I have ever seen considering he is president and responsible for one of the best NASCAR tracks on the circuit. I saw him talking and laughing with everyone in the pits and taking time to have conversations with them. He knew
who they were, who their families and pit crews were, and what cars they drove. He just is a really good person.

Needmore Speedway and the Georgia Automobile Racing Hall of Fame, South Georgia Chapter will add a special twist to their regular racing program, Saturday night, July 14th. Several former drivers who raced at Thunderbowl Speedway and I-75 Speedway will be on hand for a special autograph session before the races that night. Several former drivers have been invited to the event including Eddie MacDonald, Louie Radney Jr., Sputter Ragan, Bill O'Neal, Jimmy Murphy, Ed Mansfield, Curtis Morgan, Ed Brown, Rance Phillips, Ronnie Lieupo, Charles Hatch, and Yankee Smith to name a few. In addition to the autograph session, race fans will be treated to a special 15 lap feature for the open wheel modified "Skeeter Cars". As a member of GARHOFA, you recieve a hat pin plus quarterly editions of Pioneer Pages magazine that's always full of interesting articles about the people who contributed to the history of stock car racing in Georgia. Each year a group is inducted into the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame located in Dawsonville, Georgia. If you attend races at either 441 Speedway or Cochran Motor Speedway, chances are that you may have seen this week's Deep Dixie fan Of The Week, Vickie Parker. She is often helping out in one way or another at each track. It is readily apparent that she is an outgoing person who enjoys life in general and racing in particular. She meets no strangers and makes a great ambassador in her efforts to promote racing. Well, just check out the video and you should see for yourself.

Deep Dixie Racing has an interview with Gene Ross after the late model feature. Limited has some great in-car action. Hobby was, as always, wild. As were the enduros. Enjoy all seven features as they are posted.

It was a hot night at Cochran Motor Speedway but the place was packed and everyone got to see some exciting racing. The Bobby Piper Southern Outlaw Superstreet Series was in town and those guys didn't disappoint. Andy Stewart wound up winning the race and the big money but when everything was all said and done, everyone who was there were the real winners. Videos of the Late Model Race and the James Ray Hall Memorial are included.
